Lifting the nose tip

Do certain facial expressions cause the tip of your nose to dip? There’s a non-surgical method to optimize the shape and position of your nose tip. Raise and refine your nose tip with a BTX nose tip lift!

What does BTX nose tip lift entail?

A sagging nose tip can make the face appear heavier, sometimes giving a worn-out look. A BTX nose tip lift is an aesthetic procedure that uses a muscle relaxant to give the nose a lifted and streamlined appearance, all without surgery.

How does nose tip lifting with BTX work?

During a BTX nose tip lift, we apply a small dose of muscle relaxant to specific nasal muscles. This process relaxes the muscles that pull the nose tip down, raising the tip of the nose and creating a more harmonious and refined appearance.

What does the treatment process look like?

The entire procedure is quite short, often completed within 15 minutes.

  • You will first discuss your goals with Dr.Kim Detollenaere.

  • Photos of the treatment area will be taken beforehand.
  • The doctor will then clean the area.
  • A fine needle will be used to inject the muscle relaxant.
  • After the procedure, you can go about your daily life.
  • You can see the effects within two weeks, especially if you compare the before-and-after photos.
  • There is no specific recovery period.
  • Potential side effects are limited, such as some redness, temporary swelling, or a small bruise after the procedure.

What can you expect in terms of results?

The first subtle changes will begin to become visible within 3-5 days, but the full effect will only become apparent after about 10-14 days. You will notice a slight lift in your nose, which typically lasts for 3-4 months. You can have the procedure repeated after that time.

As the treatment is performed more regularly, the effect of the muscle relaxant can last longer.

FAQ

Using a thin needle, muscle relaxant injections are administered into specific facial muscles. These injections block the signals between the nerve and the muscle. This leads to reduced muscle activity, making wrinkles and lines less visible, or even disappearing completely.

Wrinkles begin to fade within 2-8 days after the injection. The optimal effect is visible after about 4 weeks. This effect lasts between 6-8 weeks. From 8 weeks onwards, the effect gradually diminishes. After 12 weeks, the effect is approximately halved, and after 4 months, 80% of the effect has disappeared. Many patients choose to repeat the treatment every 3-4 months, but this varies from person to person. Men, athletes, and those with a more muscular build may require larger and more frequent doses.

Although wrinkle injections are a medical procedure performed by a doctor and carry some risks, they are generally considered safe with a low risk of complications.

  • Bruising and swelling at the injection site are common.
  • Mild headaches occur after the injection in about 10% of cases, usually lasting no longer than 24 hours.
  • Drooping of the eyebrow or eyelid occurs in 2% of patients and can last up to 3 weeks.
  • Multiple treatments are sometimes necessary for optimal results.
  • Infections are very rare.

The treatment is minimally painful. There’s a slight prickling sensation during the injection and a brief burning sensation. While the treatment itself only takes about 5 minutes, there are preparatory steps such as taking photos, signing a consent form, and disinfecting, making the entire appointment approximately 30 minutes long.

Your aesthetic doctor, Dr. Kim Detollenaere, may advise you to avoid frowning or making other facial expressions for the first few days.

  • Avoid pressure on the treated area for the first 24-48 hours.
  • Do not touch or massage the treated area, especially within 24 hours.
  • Wait at least 6-8 hours after the treatment before applying makeup, or preferably until the next day.

A follow-up appointment is usually scheduled approximately two weeks after your initial treatment to assess the results. Regular treatments are recommended to maintain the effects; you can discuss this with your doctor during your appointment.
