Fillers
As the face ages, we often lose volume, which can affect our overall appearance. Fillers offer an effective solution in this situation by adding extra volume, restoring a more youthful appearance.
However, fillers are not limited to anti-aging applications. They are also popular with a younger audience for accentuating cheekbones, creating fuller lips, a sharper jawline, subtle nose corrections, and other aesthetic enhancements.
At Doctor Contour Clinic, led by Dr. Kim Detollenaere, we offer customized filler treatments that fit your unique needs and characteristics.

How do fillers work?
Many patients initially believe that all injectable products are similar. However, fillers, wrinkle treatments, and fat-dissolving injections work through different mechanisms. That said, they can be used synergistically for comprehensive enhancements.
Most fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that helps keep the skin hydrated. As the skin ages, it loses its ability to retain moisture. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers restore lost volume, resulting in smoother, younger-looking skin.
At Doctor Contour Clinic, Dr. Detollenaere carefully selects the most suitable fillers for each patient’s unique goals.
We offer specialized fillers for:
✔ Enhancing the lips
✔ Reducing wrinkles
✔ Restoring lost volume
✔ Minimizing dark circles and hollows under the eyes
✔ Chin augmentation
✔ Enhancing the cheeks
✔ Defining the jawline
We can also combine multiple fillers to create a ‘liquid facelift,’ reshaping the face for a more youthful, refreshed look.
Types of fillers at Doctor Contour Clinic:
- Lips
- Nose
- Cheekbones

Important Note:
Fillers are specifically formulated for different applications. For example, a tear trough filler is not suitable for use in the lips, and vice versa. Each zone requires a specific filler, which is designed for that specific area. Some fillers have a higher degree of cross-linking or a greater ability to retain moisture. The physician, based on his/her expertise and experience, chooses the most suitable filler for the area to be treated.
Before and aftercare for fillers
The swelling after a treatment on the lips, nose or tear trough may last longer than in other areas. If symptoms persist, or if other reactions occur, it is advisable to contact Doctor Contour Clinic.

FAQ
Avoiding Permanent Fillers
Permanent fillers can lead to complications such as hardening, abscesses, and inflammation. In some cases, they cannot be removed, making them a high-risk option.
Choosing Temporary Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps maintain elasticity and hydration. The effects of these temporary fillers last between 6 to 24 months, as the body gradually breaks them down.
Cost of Filler Treatments
The average filler treatment costs between €280 and €400 per 1 ml. Pricing depends on factors such as the type of product used, consultation duration, treatment complexity, and individual goals.
Beware of Permanent and Cheap Fillers
Extremely low prices can indicate the use of non-certified products, often originating from Asia, which pose serious health risks. Always choose certified, high-quality fillers for safe and effective results.
It is essential that a filler treatment is performed by a qualified and competent physician. This professional must have in-depth knowledge of the products used, facial anatomy, various injection techniques and the potential risks associated with the procedure.
In Belgium and the Netherlands, it is legally stipulated that only qualified physicians may perform filler treatments. This legal provision is in place to ensure patient safety, as serious complications can occur when the treatment is performed by someone without adequate medical training and knowledge of facial anatomy.
Unfortunately, there are cases where beauticians or other non-medical professionals offer these treatments illegally. This can have disastrous consequences for the patient, including serious complications such as blindness and necrosis (tissue death). It is therefore essential to always check the qualifications and authorizations of the practitioner before deciding to undergo such a cosmetic procedure.
During a filler treatment, an extensive consultation is first conducted. Your wishes and questions are discussed, and the feasibility of meeting these wishes is evaluated.
Most fillers contain a local anesthetic, which minimizes discomfort during the injections. The injections are administered using very fine needles and flexible microcannulas.
Immediately after the injections, pressure is applied to the treated area with gauze.
The duration of the treatment session varies, but is generally short and depends on the number of injections required.
After the procedure, you can generally resume your normal activities immediately.
It is normal to experience redness, bruising and swelling after the injections. These side effects are generally temporary and usually disappear within 24 to 48 hours.
If desired, you can use cold packs to reduce the swelling. These are available at the clinic.
The swelling may last longer after treatment of the lips, nose or tear trough than in other treated areas. If the symptoms do not subside, or if you notice other reactions, it is recommended that you contact the Doctor Contour Clinic.
Cool
After your treatment, it is recommended to cool the treated area using ice packs. Alternate the packs every 10 minutes, but do not place them directly on the skin. Avoid strenuous activities for 24 hours and prevent exposure to intense heat, such as tanning beds or saunas.
Calm
Try to avoid pressure on the treated areas during the first few nights after your procedure. If possible, sleep on your back. For pain relief, you may take paracetamol, but always follow your doctor’s advice.
Clear
Refrain from consuming alcohol for 24 hours and avoid using AHA, Retinol/Vitamin C treatments, or oil-based makeup within the same period. For one week after treatment, avoid facial treatments, deep cleansing, glycolic or AHA peels, IPL or energy-based treatments, and microdermabrasion, unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. Do not massage the treated area unless explicitly advised. Ideally, avoid wearing makeup until the day after the procedure.
For lip filler patients, it is advised not to smoke for at least 24 hours after the injections—this could be the perfect time to consider quitting altogether! Also, avoid applying lipstick for 24 hours.
For nose filler patients, it is recommended not to wear glasses for 24 hours after the injections.
