HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) at Doctor Contour Clinic
Natural skin lift without needles or incisions
At Doctor Contour Clinic, we use HIFU technology to lift and firm the skin in a safe and controlled manner. This non-invasive treatment is performed by Marijke, under the supervision of Dr. Kim Detollenaere.
- Prijs: From €290
- Treatment time: 30-45 minutes
- Effect: 2 tot 3 year
What is HIFU?
HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. This technique uses ultrasound energy concentrated deep within the skin—even down to the SMAS layer (the deep connective tissue also tightened during a surgical facelift).
By generating thermal heat points at varying skin depths, the production of collagen and elastin is stimulated, resulting in a gradual lifting and skin tightening effect from within.
Indications
HIFU is ideal for:
- Sagging jawline (jowls)
- Sagging skin on the neck or double chin
- Fine lines and early wrinkles
- Loss of firmness around the cheeks or eyebrows
- Subtle lifting without downtime
- Preventive aging from around age 30
Results
The firming effect of HIFU gradually builds in the weeks and months following the treatment. Many patients notice a subtle lifting effect after just a few weeks, but the final result becomes visible after 2 to 3 months.
Collagen production continues for up to 6 months after the session, and the effect lasts an average of 9 to 18 months.

Treatment course
Intake & Cleansing: We start with a consultation to determine the appropriate treatment areas and depths. Then we thoroughly cleanse your skin.
Treatment: Marijke applies a conductive gel and works with different depths (1.5 mm, 3 mm, and 4.5 mm), depending on your skin structure and area.
Aftercare: Your skin may be slightly red or sensitive, but you can resume your daily routine almost immediately. There is no wound, no recovery period, and no specific aftercare required.
Who is HIFU suitable for?
HIFU is ideal for those seeking a natural rejuvenating effect without injections or surgery.
The treatment is popular with women (and men) who want to address early sagging skin in a subtle and preventative way, without downtime. It’s also an interesting alternative for those not yet ready for surgery.
Frequently asked questions about HIFU
1. Does HIFU hurt?
During treatment, you may feel short, intense bursts of heat in the deeper skin layers. Certain areas, such as along the jawline or over bone, can be slightly more sensitive. Most patients, however, find it very tolerable. Anesthetic is usually not needed. Afterward, the skin may feel temporarily tight.
2. When will I see results?
Results appear gradually: subtle improvements can be seen after about 4 to 6 weeks, with peak effects around 2 to 3 months. Collagen production takes time. The outcome typically lasts 9 to 18 months.
3. How many treatments do I need?
For most patients, one session per area is sufficient. In cases of more advanced skin laxity or older skin, 2 treatments may be recommended, spaced 3 to 6 months apart. After that, a yearly maintenance session is usually enough.
4. Can HIFU be combined with other treatments?
Yes. HIFU works well in combination with biostimulatory injectables (such as PRP or polynucleotides), chemical peels, or RF microneedling. Combining treatments enhances results across different skin layers. During your consultation, we’ll advise on the best combination for you.
5. Is HIFU safe?
Yes. HIFU is a safe, FDA-approved technology when performed correctly. Marijke is fully trained and uses professional, medical-grade equipment. Since the skin’s surface remains intact, the risk of complications is very low.
6. Is there downtime?
No. You can continue your daily activities right after treatment. Temporary redness or a slightly tight feeling may occur, but these effects resolve quickly. Unlike with laser or microneedling, there’s no real recovery period.
7. Can I have HIFU if I already have fillers or Botox?
It depends. We recommend scheduling HIFU at least 2 weeks before or 4 weeks after injectables. This ensures treatments remain both safe and complementary. We’ll guide you through the best timing during your consultation.
8. Is HIFU suitable for the neck or under the chin?
Absolutely. The under-chin, jawline, and neck are among the most popular HIFU treatment areas. HIFU helps refine a softer jawline and gently lift the skin under the chin without surgery.
